Origin: Our Story
You know those 'calm in the chaos' moments - Like when you hug your mother for a few extra seconds to get over a long-tiring day at work or taking the first sip of coffee/chai while the city outside rushes into traffic? It can even be moments when you laugh with friends until everything else feels irrelevant, or simply just watching the pause at sunset, when the sky slows down even if you don’t. I think that's 'sukoon'.
Google says 'Sukoon' is a word originating from Arabic and Urdu that means peace, tranquility, serenity, or inner calm. It describes a state of deep comfort, contentment, and freedom from worry or distress.
For me, ESSAAR is that 'Sukoon' and that's why it originated - so that we can share that sukoon with you. Like us, ESSAAR can be your 'second skin of calm'
ESSAAR: 33 Years of Trust & Legacy
It all began in 1992, in the heart of Jammu, when a newly married man (my father) with little more than a dream decided to start afresh. With no wealth, no inheritance—just determination—he started with a small shop of shawls.
What began as a modest attempt to create a living soon grew into something far more meaningful: shawls became an unspoken language of love in the family. My father would never tell my mother 'I love you' but instead he would get her the best shawl before a special occasion. I never verbally told my father how proud I am of him but I did style the stole he gifted me when I went to Europe and sent him a photograph.
So, over the years, that simple beginning blossomed into a tradition, one where every fold carried stories of comfort, resilience, and love. As an ode to that comfort and elegance, and to honour our father for the life he has given us, we launched ESSAAR — an ode to that legacy, bringing the timeless charm of shawls to the world, not just as accessories, but as companions in life’s every season.
